7 Powerful Presentation Tricks That Examiners Actually Notice- CA Intermediate

Presentation Tricks
Let’s be honest: in CA Inter, content is king—but presentation is the crown that makes the king noticeable. Most students write answers that are technically correct, yet they lose marks simply because the examiner finds it hard to follow. Remember, examiners have to check hundreds of papers in limited time. If your answer sheet makes their job easier, they’ll reward you with marks.
Here are some presentation tricks that examiners genuinely notice (and appreciate):
1. Start with the Law, End with the Conclusion
In papers like Law, Audit, and Tax, use this golden sequence:
👉 Provision → Application → Conclusion.
Even if your memory fails midway, this structure gives your answer a logical flow. Examiners like clarity, not random points thrown around.
2. Headings & Bullet Points – Your Best Friends
Long paragraphs = examiner fatigue.
Clear headings + short bullet points = examiner’s relief.
For example, instead of writing a chunk of 8 lines, break it into 3–4 bullet points. Marks are picked up point by point.
3. Highlight Keywords (But Don’t Overdo It)
Underline or use a highlighter for key terms like “Section 185 of Companies Act, 2013” or “Going Concern.”
This doesn’t mean turning your paper into a rainbow. A single-color pen underline is enough.
4. Use Working Notes Smartly
In Accounts & Costing, examiners love neat working notes. Even if your final answer is wrong, step-marking comes from showing a proper thought process. Always label them as “Working Note 1, 2, 3…”.
5. Don’t Leave Blank Pages
If you’re unsure, write “Answer is based on assumption –” and state it. A wrong attempt still shows effort; leaving blank pages shows surrender.
6. Keep Margins & Numbering Clean
A simple left margin helps you keep track of sub-parts (a), (b), (c). Examiners don’t want to play hide-and-seek with your answers.
7. Time Management = Presentation Management
Don’t spend 20 minutes decorating your first answer and then rush through the rest. Consistency across all answers matters more than perfection in one.
✅ Quick Rule of Thumb:
If an examiner can understand your answer in one glance, you’ve already scored half the marks.
Exam-Day Presentation Checklist (2-Minute Recall)
- Write in sequence – law/provision → apply → conclude.
- Use headings & bullets – no long paragraphs.
- Underline keywords – highlight sections, concepts, important terms.
- Show working notes – even if answer seems wrong.
- Stay neat & consistent – margins, numbering, and spacing.
👉 Stick to this, and your paper won’t just be correct—it will be examiner-friendly. And trust me, that’s where the extra 6–8 marks come from.
